Rock climbing is not the only thing to do at Joshua Tree National Park. There are Botanical Trail Guides to learn the names of the local plants. When you spend the night, you can see the beautiful stars.

Getting There

Do you have a list of National Parks to visit? Maybe you have the map on the wall and you add a pushpin to each National Park that you have visited. Joshua Tree National Park should be on your list. Joshua Tree National Park is located in southern California. It is about 260 miles west of Phx- Mesa Gateway airport.

Camping

We are campers. Therefore when we visited we pitched our tent. We meet up with our rock climbing group and stayed in the group campgrounds. Group campgrounds are great for larger groups of people who want to visit together. Usually when we camp we find a standalone campsite far away from everyone else. This trip was different.

Climbing

Whether one is bouldering or rock climbing, remember to wear the proper equipment. If bouldering bring your fall pads and always wear a helmet. We like to do both. This trip we had multiple lead climbers that would set the routes. They would create easy ones for me and harder ones for those more advanced. Tell you what…it is a good day when you are hugging a rock wall and then reach the top.
