Veterans Oasis Park consists of 113 acres of multiple-use park. We go there to geocache and fish. When you visit to learn a few skills on the orienteering course and a self-guided solar system walk.
Location
The physical address is 4050 E Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85249.
Northeast corner of Chandler Heights and Lindsey Rd in Chandler, Arizona. It is just east of the Chandler Police Department Building.
There is lots of parking on the southside of the park.
Veterans Oasis Park Amenities
The restrooms are located in the Environmental Education Center building on the southwest side of the park. There is another set of restrooms on the north side of the lake.
Drinking fountains can be found around the lake and near the pavilions.
Multiple pavilions are available for rent and have trash cans and picnic tables.
Activities
Regarding trails, there is a 4.5-mile paved multi-purpose trail around the lake. Plus, many dirt paths that we explored while visiting. We also observed that it was dog friendly with pet stations.
We have fished many times here in the past and caught bluegill, though I understand that there is rainbow trout, sunfish, hybrid sunfish, and largemouth bass. Make sure you bring your Urban Fishing License as it is a requirement.
On this adventure, we opted to geocache. We use the app Geocash. There are many geocaches located at this park. We explored for an hour and found 4. Next time we visit, we are going to find the remaining caches.
There are also horseback riding trails (no place for trailers, loading or unloading), a playground, an orienteering course, and a self-guided Solar System Walk.
Community Garden
While on our hunt for caches, we walked past the community garden located on the north side of the lake. It appeared to have many above-ground planners with a variety of winter plants.
