We have been doing many outdoor activities this month in this Arizona heat. We decided to find an indoor air-conditioned activity. Lucky for us, we found a studio that helps couples create wood sign art. The studio company also travels to different locations. We found them at an air-conditioned location near us!
Couples Art Workshop
If you are looking for a simple craft that you both can create together, I suggest a wood sign workshop.
When we arrived there were many other couples in different phases of the process. The instructor was great and took time with each couple to explain what was next for them. Therefore she started from the top for us and did the same for many other couples who can in after us.
The company brings all the supplies: the wood base for you to create art on, stencils and templates. There was different colored paint. The scrapers and toothpicks are in a bag and given to each couple. They even brought plastic gloves, for when you are working with the wood stain; to avoid getting the stain on your hands.
It was fun to work together with Hunter. We were hands-on for each phase. There were times when we got to work together to complete a step. I felt like Debbi Moore in the movie Ghost when Patrick Swayze and Debbi work on the clay pot together.
Create Wood Sign Art
Have you created an art project with a significant other? If yes, what was it?

I love the team work part of it all! Thanks for the post, it’s a great idea.
You are welcome.
We have this planned for an upcoming girls night out, but I think it would be fun to do with my husband too!
A girls night event would be great for this type of craft.
So beautiful! I’m not very crafty but this looks simple enough.
That is what we loved about it, it was simple.
Spending time with your other half is so important.
You are right.
We have considered pottery classes but neither one of us is very artistic. I wonder if there is anything like this in my area? Google here I come!
Thank goodness for Google searches! 🙂
The sign looks beautiful! And anything to recreate the Moore/Swayze moment 🙂
Not something I considered before. Looks like a good souvenir.
It is a good souvenir. We put ours on the wall of our office. 🙂
