Wine Week in San Tan Valley, Arizona

Wine Week July 15th – July 21st, 2019 San Tan Valley, Arizona Forever Sabbatical

We spent wine week at The Encanterra Country Club Resort. Encanterra hosted a wonderful Wine Week full of wine-related events. Lets us share the creative events that took place. Because there were so many events at this Summer Wine Week from July 15th – July 21st, we will break them down into daily activities.

Monday – Wine’d Down Spa Pedicure

Wine’d Down Spa Pedicure Wine Week Forever Sabbatical

The onsite Alvea Spa hosted a pedicure that used a wine-infused heel treatment and serum to nourish the skin. You also received a glass of wine to enjoy while having your feet pampered.

Tuesday – Wine Tasting Bus Trip to Young’s Market

Wine Tasting Bus Trip to Young’s Market Wine Week Forever Sabbatical

Love it when you have a driver to take you to and from a wine tasting event. Encanterra provided a huge bus to take us to Young’s Market. At Young’s Market, there was a wide variety of wines, beers, and spirits to enjoy. There was also yummy appetizers and giveaways.

Wednesday – Wine Yoga Classes and Apps & Wine

For all those wine and yoga enthusiasts this next activity is for you. The Alvea Spa hosted a yoga class where you could stretch and sip on wine. Now that’s a great way to unwind.

Apps and apres Wine Week Forever Sabbatical

Encanterra has multiple restaurants. At Apps & Apres lounge/bar they hosted $5 glasses of house wines that included Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet, Merlot, and select appetizers all week long. This was a great way to try out wines that you might normally taste.

Thursday – Notes from Neptune and Wine Bottle Ring Toss

Musical group Notes from Neptune performed a concert for us. Notes from Neptune is made up of an amazing guitarist and fantastic saxophonist. Both gentlemen could sing. Notes from Neptune had the audience up dancing on the dance floor. I was very impressed with their stage presence.

While Notes from Neptune were playing, in the next room over there was a Wine Bottle Ring Toss competition. Hunter tested his carnival skills. He received 10 rings for $10. Hunter did fabulous at this game. He won 2 bottles of wine. Way to go Hunter!!!

Friday – Wine Trivia

The wine trivia activity on Friday was full of laughs. We had two hosts from Young’s Market who would provide us with trivia questions from all topics. Thank goodness they were multiple-choice questions. We were in teams of 4-5 people. For each answer we got correct we would receive points. There were 4 rounds. All the teams were close in points and the 1st place lead would change making the competitiveness rise higher. Our team did great and earned 2nd place.

There were awesome prices for the winning teams. We have a family member who loves Fireball. Therefore we choose the HUGE Fireball wall sign and Fireball bottle opener.

During trivia, we learned and tasted new wines on Encanterra’s restaurants list that is coming out soon. Therefore, we got a sneak peek before everyone else. There were two reds and two whites. We liked the reds and are excited that they are going to be on the new wine lists at the restaurants.

Saturday – Food Pairing Dinner

Flight Wine Week Forever Sabbatical

We had mentioned that Encanterra has multiple restaurants. We visited The Bistro 1528 For their Wine and food pairing event. For the flights, we tried the Pinot Noir Flight which included Mon Frere, A to Z, and Louis Jadot. We also sampled the Cabernet Sauvignon Flight which included Ancient Peaks, Francis Coppola Director’s Cut, and Oberon. Hunter liked the Cabernet Sauvignon Flight the best of the two.

While tasting the flights we had the Coconut Shrimp appetizer. Along with the coconut shrimp, there was a mango, bell pepper, jicama, cucumber, tomato, and pineapple yogurt. It was so good that I ate all of them.

Salmon Wine Week Forever Sabbatical

Hunter tried the Roasted Salmon Superfood with quinoa, cucumber, avocado, spinach, cranberries, and lemon Vin. He let me have a piece and I liked how moist the salmon was. I ordered the Seared Halibut with corn salsa, goat cheese whipped potato, and fire-roasted peppers. I like the goat cheese whipped potato. As I write this blog my mouth waters for those goat cheese whipped potato.

Sunday – Summer Wine Showcase

A great way to complete the Wine Week activities is to attend the Summer Wine Showcase. For multiple hours you are in a large air-conditioned ballroom with tables all around the room. On the tables are multiple wines from whites to reds and everything in between, aka pink. Not only do you get to sample new wines, if you like the wine you can order them. So you can have them for future parties.
