Location
The parking lot is about 4 miles northwest of Florence, Arizona. Head north on Pinal Parkway Ave for ~ 1.7 miles. Then turn west on Hunt Highway for 1.6 miles. The parking lot is a dirt area on the north side of the road.
Amenities and Trail
There are no restrooms.
Walk under the railroad tracks.
There is a trash can at the fence where you will open, walkthrough, and close the gate.
There are many dirt paths to follow. Just make sure you head toward the hill.
Prepare for 0.5 miles to the top from the trailhead.
All Trials report an elevation gain of 239 ft.
Once you start up the hill, the ground is very loose rocks. Make sure to wear good hiking shoes.
There is no shade on the hike. Bring and wear your hat and sunblock.
With any hike, bring lots of drinking water.
A hiker had her dog on the trail. The dog looked like it was having a great time.
Once you are at the top, you have great 360-degree views of the area.
You can see farmland, towns, neighborhoods, and the desert.

Charles Debrille Poston (April 20, 1825 – June 24, 1902) was an American explorer, prospector, author, politician, and civil servant. He is referred to as the “Father of Arizona” due to his efforts lobbying for creation of the territory. Poston was also Arizona Territory’s first Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives. His remains were removed from Phoenix and moved to Florence, Arizona, on the 100th anniversary of his birth, and buried on Primrose Hill, renamed, Poston Butte where he had never completed his “Temple to the Sun”. He was entombed in an official ceremony led by Governor George W. P. Hunt.

Yes, it would be because there is no shade. We recommend going during the fall, winter, and spring.
