J Lohr Vineyards & Wines was the wine host for this week’s virtual wine dinner. J Lohr is a California winery. We learned that they have over 3,700 acres of estate vineyards in Paso Robles, Monterey County, and the Napa Valley.
Pick-up Wines and Dinner
If you have not read our past virtual wine dinners from this summer check out Virtual Wine Dinner Chateau Ste Michelle and Chronic Cellars and Bread Butter Mouth Watering Virtual Wine Dinner.
To start the evening, we drove to pick up the wines that came in a nice reusable wine bag. At the same time picked up the To Go four-course foods. Then we headed back home to set up for an enjoyable evening of tastings and learning.
J Lohr Online Presentation
Once we arrive back home, we set up the table and the laptop for the guest speaker. The speaker would walk us through the four wines that were paired with the four-course meal. The restaurant representative also came on the computer and shared why the food was paired with the wines. Not sure if you notice but in the past virtual wine dinners they were three-course meals. This time we had a bonus entree.
First Course – Salad
Phyllo Wrapped Brie. Pear chutney, Candied Almonds, Caramelized Honey, paired J. Lohr October Night Chardonnay
Second Course – Entrée
Grilled Pork Tenderloin and Raspberry salad. Manchego, Shallot, Radicchio, Raspberry Vinaigrette, paired J. Lohr Perch Pinot Noir
Third Course – Entrée
Goat Stuffed Shrimp. Bacon-Wrapped, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Baby Squash, Redskin Whipped Potatoes, Cherry-Wine Reduction, paired with J. Lohr Paso Robles
Four-Course – Dessert
Triple-Berry Shortbread Cobbler with Mascarpone fluff, paired with J. Lohr Valdiguie Wildflower
J Lohr Tantalizing Virtual Wine Dinner
Wow, such a delicious meal with mouth-watering wines. I appreciated the variety of types of foods that I would not take the time to create at home. Trying different flavors of wines helps us to find wines that we would like to have again in the future.
Wither you are trying foods or wines, do you like variety within the meal?
All of the food is well presented. Very appealing to the eye. Was the food warm when you sat down to eat?
Great question. Yes, the food was still warm. We put the dessert in the refrigerator and then brought it out when the speaker discussed the dessert.
This is such a cool event! I love that there are still ways to enjoy what you love.
Yes, I am grateful the restaurant is providing the service.
What a great concept and option during this social-distancing era. Food looks amazing!
Yes, it does help with social-distancing.
Everything looks and sounds wonderful!
It was a great time.
What a fun event! I love these virtual dinners. I’ve seen a few advertised locally but we haven’t tried one yet – hopefully, they will keep doing them this winter!
If you attend one, let us know what your favorite meal is.
The food looks yummy. I am unfortunately allergic to wines and champagnes…sigh
No worries, you can still enjoy the food.
I am not much of a wine drinker, but I love the idea of a dinner and wine date with my sweetie, all prepared for us. That phyllo wrapped brie is making me hungry. lol.
I also loved that everything was prepared and all we had to do was eat. 🙂
I need to find a virtual wine tasting tour close to our area. All your posts about this have been great reads and so many wonderful ideas for date nights and moms night in.
Wonderful, share with us when you attend one what your favorite meal was.
These are so cool! I love how much thought goes into the details. I couldn’t eat the food though. I’d have to find something similar with vegan fare. Love the whole idea.
They do have vegan too. Just have to ask.
